Taco Tuesday has become somewhat of a fun joke, but what if it was actually a great thing for your meal plan?  This post is all about the benefits of Taco Tuesday and how to incorporate it into your weight loss plan.  Let’s Taco bout it!

How Can A Taco Be Good for Weight Loss?

I’m sure your first question is how can a taco be good for weight loss?  Here is the key for tacos – if you take out the tortilla or taco shell, what do you have left?  Ground beef with seasonings, veggies (lettuce, tomatoes, onions, etc), cheese, and avocado.  All of these are perfect for a low carbohydrate diet that will help you lose weight and prevent diabetes. 

The key is to make yourself more of a taco bowl and just leave off the shell.  You will still enjoy that great taco taste and have a satisfying meal that fits into your meal plan.  Just make sure your taco seasoning and any salsa you add have no added sugars.

No One Complains About Tacos

Have you ever had anyone complain about having tacos for dinner?  Tacos tend to be that one meal that everyone can agree on.  It is extremely customizable.  Everyone can choose what toppings they want, so it’s easy for everyone to be happy.  In fact, research shows that kids are far happier with meals that they can have some choice in.  This makes Taco Tuesday a great family pleaser.

Take the Decision Making Out of One Day a Week

If you follow my coaching at all, you know that I am a big fan of planning.  After making decisions all day, by the time you are at dinner time, your decision-making capacity is much lower.  If you don’t have a plan in place, you are far more likely to make bad food decisions in the evening. 

Having tacos every Tuesday means one night of the week is on auto pilot.  When doing your meal planning, this is one less day to plan.  When you go to the grocery store, you know to pick up taco ingredients.  It becomes automatic.  When you get home on Tuesday night, you know to just brown the meat, add some seasonings, and pull the toppings out of the refrigerator.  It is quick and easy for a weeknight; hence Tuesday is a great choice.
